Ingredients

  • 2 cups Heated milk
  • 1 lb White Cheddar
  • ¼ cup Butter, ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • Flatbread dough
  • Shredded white cheddar cheese
  • Cooked bacon strips
  • Jalapeno slices
  • Salt to taste, White Pepper to taste
  • Freshly ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 lb Malone’s Hot Souse Meat

Instructions

  1. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add flour and stir until mixture is well blended. Gradually stir in hot milk.
  2. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until sauce begins to boil and thickens. Whisk in the cheese. Simmer, stirring frequently, over very low heat for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste and add a little nutmeg, if desired.
  3. Spread Béchamel sauce on the flatbread dough. Sprinkle shredded white cheddar. Cut bacon strip into small squares and layer on top of the cheeses. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, to melt cheeses and toast flatbread.
  4. Remove from oven. Add cubes of Malone’s Hot Souse Meat, jalapeno slices and arugula. Allow this layer to melt into warmed cheese. Slice into strips and serve.
